My Creative Space...

This week I'm taking inspiration from Cath Kidston.  I felt a bit naughty buying a blatant copy of Cath Kidston design (a bit like my Marimekko copy find) but it was too pretty to pass up.  It still surprises me how Spotlight manages to stock these fabrics but I guess they must be different enough to not infringe copyright laws.  Eventually this one will be put up for sale in my Felt shop but I must say that I'm really taking my time.  Summer is on it's way - although you wouldn't know it today - and there is Spring cleaning to be done like sorting out that awful hall cupboard.

  1. It's beautiful! Loving all the gorgeous prints and the way they put them together. I don't think it would be possible for CK to copyright those floral prints. Her style is based on copies of vintage fabrics anyway so go Spotlight I say! ;o)

  4. Super sweet quilt, I really want to make one - have all the material, but there is fear of the unknown that holds me back...that and everyone keeps telling me how hard they are. Maybe one day I'll make it. Love yours. See others is always inspiring. Thanks for sharing.

  5. I love that style of print and I agree with Cotton Kiwi. Besides Cath Kidson is next to impossible to get over here....another textile designer in that style who is easier to get is Tanya Wheelan (for Grand Revival). I love the old pram under the quilt - Mum had one just like that for us kids.

  6. Thanks Leonie - don't pack that sewing machine away yet! I'm pretty sure they will have it in Spotlight over there

Teresa - if you visit http://deb-robertson.blogspot.com/2010/09/tutorial-for-simple-squares-12-12-inch.html - it will make the whole task seem so much easier - and thank you :)

Notchka - ohhhh thank you - I had to google it but wow! I think I love those fabrics even more. The pram is actually the child's version - my Mum had so many 'project' prams that she had to give a few away. The others were cane so she thought Elijah might like this one - and he does but it's also quite handy to use as a toy box in the lounge.

  8. Wow, Kelly, I think it's stunning. Hmmmm....if I have another baby girl one day, I'll know whose shop to look at for a beautiful cot quilt :)
