In keeping with the vintage theme...

I've been racking my brain for ideas for the Vintage Baby Swap.  I wanted to include something handmade as well as something thrifted.  For some reason I thought some children's bean bags would be fun.  I remember the one term that Elijah went to Jumping Beans that all the kids loved their little bean bags.

Here's my version

They are filled with either rice or wheat so can double as heat/cool packs

About the size of an adult hand making them easy for kids to throw and catch

Now Elijah will demonstrate a game for 1-2 year olds (maybe even younger)

Use the bag to pat parts of your body - like you head...

and your knee...

and your toes!

You can find plenty more ideas for bean bag games just by googling it

  2. Thats a great idea - especially when they can be used as heat bags too!

  3. I've also been racking my brain, I have a few handmade things on the go, but the thrifting gods are not shining down on me this week. Why is it when you are looking for something in particular you can't find it?? It's so annoying!

  4. Children are so imaginative. Simple toys like this allow them to get really creative. We have a set that I made and children of all ages like them and I've seen them used in so many ways. Throwing them at/into a target like a basket is a popular one, even for older children, and the great thing is they are easy for little ones to control, unlike balls which roll and bounce.

  5. Frangipani - I think I might have seen some on one of your posts - a while ago now. Elijah is not that great at catching so he's finding these alot of fun especially because he can practise indoors. I bet he would love throwing them into a basket - I might have to keep an eye out for a decent sized one at the op shops :)
