TV free day...

Today we went without TV.  Not because we had no power, not because it broke but because I had had enough of little ears not listening.  The morning went a bit shaky, he kept sneakily plugging the TVs back in.  A safety plug fixed that and we've been TV free since.  What a difference - it's so peaceful!  It wasn't without dramas and the TV will go on at 5pm, which is fine because bath time is done and dinner is in the oven.

He was happy :)

  2. We watch some cartoons in the morning, then maybe have a boggie to The Wiggles then it's off at 9am regardless. Sometimes I turn it back on when she's up in the afternoon.

We get so much done and have a blast. This may change of course as the weather turns to major poo.

  5. Allie - I did enjoy the lack of background noise! I think we'll do it more often

Jo - a 9am cut off could work, I would still have to unplug the TVs because he's quite skilled at using the DVD player (argh kids these days!) He did enjoy quiet time with his Lego and Hot Wheels tracks - he even figured out how he could make a domino effect with the tracks (don't know why I didn't think of it!)

emerson-j - isn't it funny how quickly kids pick up new routines yet it is impossible to break them once they're in them. I'm finding we're having trouble with both food and TV at the moment. He does love his fruit and veges though - it's beef he won't go near

Cat - thanks and omg I looked at the time of your comment then at the clock - I had no idea it was that late! I've just finished pinning together the napkin/doily quilt - time flies when you're having fun :D

  6. Well done... :)

My husband had to go for a year without tv when he was a kid. All because he and his sister had become like zombies, never actually wanting to play or even do homework. So the TV went... I think his parents were very brave!
